4Q Fundraising a GameChanger for Nicholson?
Wisconsin Republican Senate Candidate Kevin Nicholson (R-Delafield) doubled his GOP primary opponent State Senator Leah Vukmir (R-Brookfield) in 2017 4th Quarter fundraising. Nicholson raised $800,000 to Vukmir’s $400,000 during the final three months of 2017.
Wisconsin Conservative Talk Radio had been pro-Vukmir in the race, often repeating her talking points and questioning Nicholson’s past. That is now changing.
During Jay Weber’s intro to his show he highlighted Nicholson doubling Vukmir’s fundraising and said, “He’s getting…traction.” Later, when discussing the race with J.R. Ross from Wispolitics.com, Weber said, “Kevin Nicholson is proving to be a formidable first timer.”
Later in the day, Dan O’Donnell similarly changed his tune on the race. He discussed the advantages of the particular candidates and noted that Nicholson has a “tremendous advantage” in fundraising. O’Donnell mentioned the Republican unity pledge and noted how Leah Vukmir has “started going viciously after Kevin Nicholson.” O’Donnell expressed concern that the candidates go so negative on each other that it allows Sen. Tammy Baldwin a chance to survive.
