Women’s March Wisconsin called on Attorney Matt Flynn to drop out of the governor’s race for his representation of Catholic Priests, who were accused of sexual predator crimes. At the Wisconsin Gubernatorial Candidate Education Forum, Women’s March WI approached Flynn and “asked him to explain his involvement in the transfer and coverup of pedophile priests to other parishes.”

Pearson confronting Flynn

A Facebook video of the confrontation was uploaded to the Women’s March WI’s Facebook page. It purports to show Women’s March WI’s Co-Chair Sarah Pearson confronting Flynn.

The video has more than 7,000 views.

Matt Flynn responded on his campaign website, explaining in part that he “has not talked publicly about [his] involvement with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as their attorney” but now that this painful time has been raised, he would “correct the record.” He claims he represented Archdiocese of Milwaukee, but claims he did not represent priests who committed abuses.

Flynn tries to claim he was part of the solution:

“In my work almost twenty years ago, I worked with others to put into place procedures to identify and remove abusive priests, notify the authorities, and prevent their transfer.”

We will keep you updated on this story. Asking a candidate to drop out of the race seems like it was likely sparked by another campaign.
