Democrat Impeachment Disaster
House Democrats had a rough first day of the Public Impeachment Hearings. Their two star witnesses, Ambassador William Taylor and Secretary George Kent, had trouble handling basic questions. It was revealed that neither of them had even met the President and lacked firsthand knowledge of much of what they discussed. At one point, Ambassador Taylor relayed information that a staff member told him the staff member had overheard on a phone call.
The Republicans were led by new Committee Member Jim Jordan.
Jordan honed in on Taylor’s supposed “clear understanding” of events that he did not witness with a memorable sequence:
Kent for his part did more to focus attention on Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings in Ukraine.
It was a rough opening for Chair Adam Schiff and the House Democrats. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has to be worried that this is spiraling out of control.
