Leah Vukmir violates GOP Unity Pledge Again
Sen. Leah Vukmir is attacking Republican Senate frontrunner Kevin Nicholson again, this time in a story published a day after Marquette Law School Poll found her trailing Nicholson by 9%.
Clearly, Vukmir is trying to shake up the race as she has trailed in all public and private polling that has been released and was behind 2 to 1 in fundraising in the 4th Quarter of 2017. It will be interesting to see if this works out for her.
Both Republican candidates signed a unity pledge two months ago. They pledged to “conduct my campaign in a manner that is respectful of my fellow Republican candidates and will focus on achieving victory in November, ensuring that whichever candidate earns the nomination is in the strongest position possible to defeat Senator Baldwin.” However, within minutes of signing the pledge, Vukmir attacked Nicholson over an endorsement. These attacks prompted radio host Dan O’Donnell to discuss the Republican unity pledge on January 10 and state how Leah Vukmir has “started going viciously after Kevin Nicholson.” O’Donnell expressed concern that the candidates go so negative on each other that it allows Sen. Tammy Baldwin a chance to survive.
Later in January, Vukmir blasted an e-mail to her list claiming “YOU’RE NO RONALD REAGAN” to Nicholson. It also claimed that Nicholson will “say whatever is convenient, whenever, to please his audience. He has no real principles, only political ambitions.”
