The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in favor of conservative Professor John McAdams on Friday against Marquette University which had fired him for blog posts. The Court ruling concludes that the Catholic school breached its contract with him guaranteeing academic freedom. The ruling stated McAdams should immediately be reinstated.

The blog post in question was posted in November of 2014. A liberal instructor basically shut down a discussion about gay marriage in her classroom. A student who was not allowed to discuss the topic because he had traditional views on marriage, had recorded the discussion and provided it to Professor McAdams.

McAdams’ blog post discussed this and he highlighted this as another example of liberals silencing the opinions of those with whom they disagreed or find offensive.

This Court ruling is a vindication for Professor McAdams and a big win for Free Speech. Rick Esenberg, President of the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, said “The Wisconsin Supreme Court has struck a major blow in favor of free speech….Make no mistake about it, this is a major day for freedom.”
