Wisconsin State Senate Special Election 10th District: Jarchow v. Schachtner
The Left has hyped up Tuesday’s Special Election in Wisconsin State Senate District 10. They are claiming it is part of a National Blue Wave and are setting expectations that they will win a surprise victory. District 10 was previously held by former Sen. Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls), who won her last election by nearly 23,000 votes in 2016. Harsdorf had won all of her elections in the 10th district by at least 9,000 votes, including a 2011 recall election.
State Rep. Adam Jarchow (R-Balsam Lake) is running against Democrat Patty Schachtner, the chief medical examiner for St. Croix County. On January 10, the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, led by Eric Holder, filed an Independent Expenditure Report for spending $10,000 on digital ads. This group is looking to flip Republican held state legislative seats across the country, so that Democrats can re-draw legislative maps after the 2020 census.
Conservative groups like Americans for Prosperity are also spending money in this race.
